Niche Market Children's Books

Can a book for young readers be targeted to niche?

Yes, it can, as writer Carole Marsh of Gallopade Books discovered. Carole wrote a mystery for the the 8-14 age market, called it the Carowinds Mystery, and sold it at points all around that famous theme park.

  • Easy to reach location
  • Ever renewing customer base
  • Forever sales.
  • Spin-offs possible for every other theme park location.

Next entry: a  niche market for poetry.

Tom,
You make some very good points, but I am curious what you would recommend for creating a niche for fiction, especially since I love writing in a lot of different genres. I know we hear that we should "brand" ourselves, but my rear end (my "niche" markets) are way too broad to figure all of that out. So many advice columns, books, etc. are geared for non-fiction books, and fiction is my true love. HELP!
